A Message From Jen Kingwell

I think Spring is my favourite season.

After the grey days of winter, I get excited for the crisp mornings that shimmer with sunlight & hint at the warmth of Summer fast approaching. My garden begins to explode with vibrant colours and as I watch the butterflies and bees dance among the blooms, I can't help but feel my heart stir with joy and hope. When designing Pick A Petal I knew I wanted to capture the essence of Spring by weaving together the beauty and colour that this season brings to my world.

Using a mix of hand piecing, needle-turn appliqué and a range of stitch techniques I began my journey to create Pick A Petal. I love the way combining these techniques creates layers of detail and interest to a project.

I embellished the appliqué borders with butterflies, flowers, and fruits to further evoke the spirit of Spring.

The inspiration from Spring extended beyond the quilt, sparking the creation of my new fabric ranges with Moda. I’ve recoloured these fabrics to perfectly complement the playful and whimsical feel of this design.

I’m known as a scrap quilter and so I knew I wanted my ‘Mixed Bag’ ranges to reflect this: The colour palette is bright and fun mixing a range of prints.

I hope you enjoy this journey with me as much as I enjoyed the process of creating this design.

PICK A PETAL FAQs

$50 reservation fee is due today upon signup. This fee is applied to the overall cost of the BOM and then the remainder is broken out in to 6 payments.

This depends on which version you choose. Jen's original version using Mixed Bag will be $38.50 per month, plus shipping. The Tula Pink version will be $45.95 per month, plus shipping.

YES! If you can sew at all, you can achieve this quilt! There will be detailed instructions and videos for the workshop and you will have help along the way! Plus, it’s all online so you can go back and reference it anytime!

As we are not personally running this Facebook group, we do not have alternatives for the Pick a Petal community. I do recommend creating an account that you can use to join a myriad of sewing groups. It's a wonderful place to interact with others, get feedback or help, and connect with other quilters!

This block of the month begins in May 2025. You will receive fabrics 3-5 business days after that first payment and each month after that.

Shipping is dependent on the package weight and your location, just like all other shipments. Typically, these run $9-15 a month in the US, higher internationally.
