Giuseppe Ribaudo (aka Giucy Giuce) grew up in Long Island, NY. First generation Sicilian-American on his dad’s side and second on his mom’s, his family lived on the bottom floor of his maternal grandparents’ house. His grandmother is a talented and prolific seamstress who taught him to sew at an early age, though it wasn’t until he was in college that he discovered quilting.

In 2018, he turned his focus to fabric design and released his first collection Quantum. Recently he relocated to Portland, Maine where he continues to design fabric and patterns and teach quilting classes.

Judy Niemeyer, owner and CEO of Quiltworx.com, founded the company after nearly 20 years of creating custom quilts, raising her children, and teaching at the Quilt Gallery in Kalispell, MT. Using her family’s engineering expertise, she revolutionized traditional quilting with technology, speeding up the process, creating previously impossible designs, and developing foundation paper piecing techniques to eliminate many of the challenges that quilters face in the quest to create the “perfect quilt.”

While the location might seem like it’s a bit of a departure from what we’ve offered before, you can be sure it’ll meet the same exacting standards you’ve come to expect from us: warm luxury! All of your needs will be met, with some extra fun surprises along the way! The location of the venue is simply amazing; we fell in love when we attended a Quiltworx event there this last fall. There is an abundance of natural light, big open space behind where you can sit out in the evening and enjoy the summer twilight, and one big room where we can all be together and make new friends. The sewing spaces are better (and bigger!) than ever, and we’re so excited to host you there. We can have our pop-up shop be bigger and better than ever, too! There is a super cute little coffee stand that makes the best darn vanilla lattes I’ve had on site as well (priorities, right?!)!

ABOUT Snowline Acres

Snowline Acres and the Ashley Creek Historic Venue offers a one-of-a-kind experience! The reconstructed building is completed with modern amenities and extraordinary charm. Snowline is an excellent location with gathering places designed to echo the surrounding natural beauty of the Flathead Valley, Montana. You can also enjoy all the natural beauty of this property from our large wrap-around patio facing the gorgeous Swan Mountain Range. A great place to socialize, this outdoor area provides stunning views.

The historic Kalispell Lumber Company - a unique and rustic building emblazoned with an iconic and outsized reference to Kalispell’s timber tradition, was dismantled and relocated from the west side of town and has been rebuilt on the Snowline Acres property.

The relocation of this structure is the result of several years of planning, a passion for old buildings with history and character, and our entrepreneurial vision to create a place for family traditions.

The original 22,000-square-foot Kalispell Lumber Co. building, erected in 1939 in what was once the industrial heart of the Flathead Valley, has been carefully reassembled.

Heritage Timber LLC, a Missoula-based deconstruction company, has reassembled the building, which encompasses roughly 220,000 board feet of wood. Much of the material is tight-grain, old growth wood cut in old-fashioned dimensions, including 10 by 12 inch posts, 22 inch beams and towering roof trusses that extend 40 feet into the sky. An estimated 90 percent of the original structure was preserved so that it can retain its historic identity after being rebuilt.

The Kalispell Lumber Co. building is certainly a relic from a bygone era. It has survived time and torment, including two major fires that consumed entire city blocks more than half a century ago. Its signature presence on the west side of town has been unmistakable to generations of passersby. But the building will be preserved and new family memories and traditions will be made within its walls.

Getting to Kalispell

It’s the easiest (albeit most expensive) to fly directly into Kalispell. For those of us who are city slickers, the airport is a sum total of 4 gates, so super easy in-and-out. They have car rentals on site, as well as shuttles to the hotels (see below for Where to Stay). You can also fly into Glacier Park International Airport, which also has car rentals and lodging nearby.

The next closest airport is Missoula, (airport code MSO), which is about a 2-hour drive to Kalispell. It’s a gorgeous drive, and offers lots more airlines that fly into this location. The weather will be nice this time of year, so no need to fret about snow!

Our location for this retreat is a bit different than previous locations; it’s not known for its walkability, so it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you have a car. This location is known for its beauty and wide-open spaces, so it will be necessary to drive while there. The town of Kalispell itself is super cute and charming; lots to eat and see/do, but again, it’s about 15 min from our retreat location. Uber and Lyft aren’t yet a thing in this neck of the woods, but we are more than happy to help you find or make some new friends to share a car rental and/or lodging with!

We have reserved room blocks at the Best Western, Hampton Inn, as well as the Hilton Garden Inn. These are the three hotels closest to the event center location. There are also rooms available at the Springill Suites Kalispell, which is about 15 minutes away, but closer to “town” and dining and shopping. All of these offer breakfasts included (or for purchase) with your stay, so you’re covered there. Another great option would be to rent an Airbnb or VRBO with a couple friends. You can search Kalispell and/or Flathead Lake for available options.
